NESEA Student design competition

Monday, November 22, 2010Share

In a world that is changing rapidly, it is essential for buildings to conserve both energy and materials, provide a comfortable and healthy indoor environment, be durable, affordable, and desirable.  While the majority of current building construction is performed on-site, this competition will focus on the alternative; modular building technology.

Competitors will be challenged with the design of a small residential community on a 4 acre vacant lot located in West Roxbury, Massachusetts.  Teams will submit a complete design package that will include a site plan, community center, and housing units for 20 families. They will be asked to clearly disclose both the heating loads and estimated cost of construction on their final presentation boards.
